Think globally, shop locally.

My new glasses were ready, so Barbara and I made the brief trek down to Eye & Eye. As we have good parking karma, a legal parking spot opened up for us right in front of Eye & Eye on Dorchester Avenue! We could have gone to one of the well-known large chain opticians instead and had the glasses ready in an hour rather than a week, but this one is nearby and provides personalized service. Remember: think globally, shop locally! Bobin will take care of you.

Afterwards, as long as we were there anyway, we went next door to have lunch at Lower Mills Tavern. Barbara ordered something called a Garden Pizza, which is described on the menu as having “house-made marinara sauce with mozzarella, ricotta, mushrooms, red pepper, spinach, heirloom cherry tomatoes, garlic oil.” Barbara gives it two thumbs up.

I just wanted a burger, mostly so I could compare it with the one at the neighboring Bowery Bar, which I had had two weeks ago. According to the menu, it comes with “American cheese, house sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion, served on a seeded brioche bun.” It did. And it came rare, as ordered! And it came with a Caesar side-salad, which was large, super-fresh, and delicious. Also two thumbs up.

Fortunately we have four thumbs between us.
