Yes, it’s a chain, but don’t dismiss it out of hand. After all, it’s a Japanese chain, not an American one. From Waikiki to Kansas City, Toronto to Dorchester, Gyu-Kaku has some five dozen locations in North American alone, supplementing the 600 in Japan and lots more elsewhere in Asia.
As we happened to be near South Bay in Dorchester at lunch time the other day, Barbara and I decided to stop at the Gyu-Kaku location right there (in the new part of South Bay). Everything was fresh and delicious. In the photos you’ll see what we had: clockwise from upper right you see miso soup, spring rolls, crunchy garlic shrimp noodles, and avocado salad. Yummy!
