Duck and lamb are my two favorite entrées to ask for in restaurants, but most of the time I just don’t find them on menus. Sure, you can usually find duck on a fancy French menu, or lamb on any Turkish or Greek listing, but neither is usually available on generic American menus. So I was excited to find duck on Tavolo’s new menu — as a new regular item, not just as a special!
Clearly we had to go there last night. Neither of us was particularly hungry, but fhat’s why the Flying Spaghetti Monster invented take-out containers. Barbara had linguini with clams, in a sauce of white wine, butter, parsley, and chili flakes — with peas on the side. I had the aforementioned duck, which came in the form of pulled duck braised with gnocchi, fried sage, mushrooms, and parmesan, in a pomegranate glaze. And I helped Barbara cope with her healthy side of peas. All-around yum, yum, yum — and more than enough, so we put those take-out containers to good use. Service from Brandon was excellent as always.
Try it out, but leave some more duck for me next time!
