As Tom Lehrer says, that’s mathematics!

Tom Lehrer is 97 years old! (Actually, I missed his birthday, which was three months ago.) Needless to say, he isn’t performing anymore. But still, his longevity might be attributable to his music, since so many musicians seem to live surprisingly long.

Anyhow, in honor of Tom, I was going to pick a well-known political song that seems appropriate these days. But instead I’ve picked a much lesser-known mathematical song, one that I used to share with my classes before I retired: That’s Mathematics! This version is performed by mathematicians Eddie Woo, Hannah Fry, James Tanton, Chris Smith, Bobby Seagull, Jo Morgan, David Wees, Matt Parker, Michael Stevens, Lieven Schiere, Ben Sparks, Rob Eastaway, Nira Chamberlain, Ed Southall, Steven Strogatz, Simon Pampena, Rachel Riley, Alex Bellos, Simon Singh, Katie Steckles, Craig Barton, and Kyle Evans. (“What?!” exclaimed one of my students. “Are there really girl mathematicians!???”)
