Or railroad modelers, as we spell it on this side of the pond. I don’t know why the Brits have such problems with spelling two perfectly good words that we ’Murricans invented: railroad and modeler.
Nonetheless, railroad modelers are of course the same as railway modellers (or model railroaders, which I prefer), so let’s look at some famous ones. The Little Wicket Railway shows us a few:
Walt Disney, Jools Holland, Rod Stewart, Neil Young, Pete Waterman. Are they all famous (in your mind)? Well, three out of five ain’t bad, as they say: I have no idea who Jools Holland and Pete Waterman are.
I suppose I should google Holland and Waterman… It turns out that Holland is “an English pianist, bandleader, singer, composer and television presenter,” and Waterman is “an English record producer, songwriter, and television personality.” So there! Famous in the UK, but not here.

Viewers of the website linked above (second paragraph) have suggested some other railroad/railway modelers/modellers, most often Frank Sinatra but also Roger Daltrey, Phil Collins, Warren Buffett, Tom Hanks, Michael Gross, Gary Coleman, Neil Young, and Mandy Patinkin. Pretty cool, verdad?
