Just My Type

What a cool book! Simon Garfield’s Just My Type, subtitled A Book about Fonts, will tell you all you want to know about fonts, in a readable and mostly non-technical style — all you want to know, but not more than you want to know. You will learn about who created which fonts (and why), what their similarities and differences are, and why Helvetica is so revered while Comic Sans is so despised. “The one thing that most people (type professionals and laypeople combined) agree on is that Comic Sans is no good at all,” as Garfield observes.

By reading this enjoyable account, you’ll learn a little about the correct use of type, but mostly you’ll just have fun. Read it!
