There’s no such thing as a bad book by Ruth Rendell.
The Child’s Child, written under Rendell’s Barbara Vine pseudonym, must therefore be a good book. It’s the only possible logical deduction.
Is The Child’s Child a mystery novel? Not really. But slightly.
Is it historical fiction? Not really. But slightly.
Is it a story-within-a-story? Well, yes…but it’s also one of Rendell’s explorations of family and psychology that usually appear under the Barbara Vine name.
I don’t think I’ll write a full review here. Suffice it to say that you should definitely read it if any of the brief comments above intrigue you.
