Normally I don’t endorse political candidates in this blog.
But normally my former students don’t run for office! In fact, as far as I know, this is only the 2½th time. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Why the strange fraction? Well:
- First came Chynah Tyler, who has made a name for herself in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
- Then the half, because U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan was certainly a student at Lincoln-Sudbury when I was teaching there, but I don’t think she was ever in any of my classes—though I knew her because her sister Frannie was in several of my classes. So I’ll count her as half.
- And now we have Dana Bullister, who just yesterday announced her candidacy for the Cambridge City Council.
All three are deserving of your support—not because they are former students of mine but because all are exceptionally capable, work very hard, and take thoughtful positions on issues. I claim no share of the credit for their success.
