Via Cannuccia

After a long —long for no particular reason — hiatus, Barbara and I went back to Via Cannuccia last night for a special dinner. As we had expected, the food was exceptional.

We started by sharing a delicious and very generous mixed salad. Then Barbara had the Cozze alla Porto d’Anzese, a.k.a. sautéed mussels with parsley pesto, Calabrian chili, and white wine. I am reliably informed that these were delicious as well, even though no one gave me the opportunity to try them. I had the short ribs, which were extra tender and extra flavorful; they came with perfectly cooked broccoli, slaw, the crispiest possible roasted potatoes, polenta, and great sauce. We were careful to follow the advice in the sign on the wall (see below). Service was attentive and unrushed. The only downside was that the dining room was painfully noisy for my 78-year-old ears, so conversation was difficult without shouting. If that doesn’t bother you, I highly recommend the tasty and genuinely Italian food at Via Cannuccia.
