Thelo Mediterranean

Thelo Mediterranean is a new Greek restaurant in Dorchester at 860 Dorchester Ave. Barbara and Meredith and I ordered an excessively large lunch from there yesterday, delivered promptly by UberEats.

We started with my go-to favorite when trying any new Greek restaurant: avgolemono soup. For those of you who are not familiar with Greek cuisine and haven’t decoded the name, this is a lemony chicken soup with egg drizzled through it, and it was excellent at Thelo. The quantity was of unspecified size but turned out to be enough for the three of us, as I had expected.

Then came another tradition: a Greek village salad. This contained assorted fresh veggies with two generous slabs of feta and (as expected) pita bread.

But wait — there’s more! The next course was falafel, served with tzatziki and (of course) more pita bread.

By now are you ready for the main course? This was a gigantic — nay, humongous — platter of beef, lamb (naturally), chicken, lukaniko sausage, more salad, and our choice of side. What, no pita? Well, there probably was, but I just don’t remember. Ah yes, just look at the photo below.

Even saving lots of leftovers, I had no room for dessert — but Barbara and Meredith shared a plate of seven loukoumades (donuts drizzled in honey for you heathens).

Now go learn some Greek!
