It seems that we will soon be following in the footsteps of other schools that have adopted a “bring your own technology” plan. Many of our students already bring MacBooks, PC laptops, or iPads to school, so the idea is to institutionalize the practice by encouraging it and facilitating its success. This would mean, of course, ensuring sufficient network capacity, WiFi capability, access to printers, etc. It also means having a sufficient supply of NetBooks (or other technology) that students without their own equipment could check out on a short- or long-term basis. There are, of course, a lot of pros and cons to this possibility. Naturally there are plenty of problems to be solved.
Will it work? No one knows yet. Watch this spot, and I’ll let you be the first to hear the answer.
