What can goats teach us about problem solving?

A lot of people take their dogs along for a hike…but never before had I heard of taking one’s goats hiking.

“What,” you may ask, “does this have to do with math?”

Read Dan Finkel’s excellent post. And be particularly sure to watch the pair of 30-second embedded videos. I’m not going to tell you what all this has to do with problem solving; you’ll have to find out for yourself.

Do you recognize yourself in either of the goats? Are you a Sid, or are you a Myshkin?

If you’re a teacher, do you recognize your students? I certainly do. Do you teach more Sids or more Myshkins? I’m not going to answer that question yet.
